The Backstory

Our founder’s journey began in the fashion industry in Australia. From there, she spent years travelling to the world’s fashion capitals. These brief biannual trips, lasting just 2–3 nights, left her yearning for more time to immerse herself in these vibrant cities. She dreamed of staying longer, perhaps even living in these iconic locations one day.

In 1997, she made a bold decision to embark on a global adventure with her two young children. They lived in Bangkok, Tuscany, Rome, New York, Paris, and London, spending time on little-known islands and hidden getaways along the way. This journey fostered a deep love for travel, luxury, and exceptional service.

Eventually, our founder settled in Rome. This legendary city invited frequent visits from friends and family, many of whom asked her to find them an apartment for their stay.

Back in 2000, before holiday apartment rentals became the norm, no reputable agencies offered luxury apartment stays — available apartments were basic and lacked tasteful décor.

Recognizing this market gap sparked the initiative to find property owners willing to upgrade their décor to suit luxury clients. Thus evolved a personalised service offering beautiful apartments in Italy’s most sought-after cities.

The Present

A new connection in Barbados inspired frequent visits to the Caribbean, cultivating our founders’ deep love for the region. The discovery of the enchanting and idyllic islands of Mustique, Bequia, and other Grenadines Islands and the magnificent St. Barth led to the birth of Simply Islands.
